Room acoustics

Room acoustics is an engineering discipline that deals with the design and optimization of the sound environment within enclosed spaces, particularly those intended for concerts, theatrical performances, live shows, speech intelligibility, and sporting events. The main goal is to create a high-quality sound experience for the audience, ensuring that the sound is clear, well-balanced, and free from unwanted reflections.

To assess the acoustics of a space, various key acoustic indices are used, including reverberation time (RT), speech transmission index (STI), speech clarity (C50), music clarity (C80), strength (G), etc.

Measurement of these indices is carried out according to the ISO 3382 standard, which establishes standardized procedures for evaluating room acoustics. The investigative procedure involves generating calibrated test signals and recording the impulse response of the environment.

Our company employs EASERA PRO software for the assessment of major acoustic indices, in accordance with the ISO 3382 standard. Subsequently, data analysis using EASE simulation software, equipped with the AURA simulation algorithm, allows for the calibration of the acoustic model and the design of remedial interventions.

room acoustics is crucial for the design of concert halls, theaters, and recording studios, as it directly influences the perception and appreciation of music and sound. The application of ISO 3382 standards and the understanding of key acoustic indices help our designers create high-quality sound environments that enhance the listening experience.
