New Life for the Teatro Carani

New Life for the Teatro Carani

Claudia Borelli, President of the Fondazione Teatro Carani ETS, soma days following the inauguration shared her thoughts on the work carried out , making us appreciate once again our involvement in this project.

Working on the renovation of the Teatro Carani has been a great opportunity for us: we had the chance to rethink its infrastructure and stage technology, and today it has become a versatile and innovative space capable of hosting all types of events. – See our “Portfolio” section.
We must thank the Fondazione Teatro Carani for this opportunity, as they envisioned and desired a multifunctional and innovative space from the very beginning, and chose us to bring it to life.

“The Theater,” explained Claudia Borelli, “has been for decades the centerpiece of the cultural life of Sassuolo, and we could not ‘resign’ ourselves to losing this highly symbolic place of our cultural and social growth. The Foundation began from here: it took on the legacy of the Carani with the aim of restoring it as the center of our community. The choices made during the renovation phase went in the same direction: to create a space suitable for today but also capable of being improved and adapted to future technologies.”

Was it difficult to navigate the design choices?
CB – After a long search, we relied on you, Decima 1948, and Cavea Engineering for the system and multimedia aspects: we were convinced by the dynamic vision of the proposed project, based on service rather than individual materials, and strongly oriented towards the future. We needed people who could listen to our ideas and transform them into the final design.

Was the construction phase busy?
CB – It certainly was, the theater has been completely renewed in its structures and stage systems, while still preserving its identity, including its aesthetic side. Decima 1948 and Cavea Engineering rose to the challenge of engaging with the various stakeholders involved, all with different skills and backgrounds, from project management to theater technicians, from marketing to the Foundation team.

** The Fondazione Teatro Carani was established on January 27, 2020, with the aim, after a decade of closure, of acquiring ownership of the theater and then donating it to the City of Sassuolo, after it has been appropriately renovated.
